Nelson Valdez signs for Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt have completed the signing of Nelson Valdez, bolstering their forward line for the new Bundesliga season.

Valdez, 30, has signed a two-year deal with the Frankfurt, the third German club of his career. He spent nine years in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen -- with whom he won the 2004 Bundesliga title under now Eintracht boss Thomas Schaaf -- and then Borussia Dortmund before leaving for Spain in 2010.

The Paraguay international spent the second half of last season on loan at Olympiakos from UAE club Al Jazira, whom he joined last summer.

"In Nelson Valdez, we have been able to bring to Eintracht Frankfurt a player who brings with him a lot of experience and who has already worked successfully with Thomas Schaaf," Bruno Hubner, Eintracht's sporting director, said in a club press release. "We're looking forward to working together."

On his debut for Hercules in 2011, Valdez scored twice in a shock 2-0 win against Barcelona at the Camp Nou, boosting his profile. However, the club went on to finish 19th in La Liga and were relegated.
