Iker Casillas 'enthusiastic' about Porto offer - Real Madrid goalkeeper's agent

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas is excited about a potential move to Portuguese giants Porto this summer after his agent confirmed the offer.

Casillas, 34, is "99 percent certain" to move to the Estadio do Dragao, according to Spanish TV station TVE, in a deal that would end a difficult two-year spell for the Real Madrid and Spain captain.

Real are hopeful of bringing Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea to the club but for that to happen, Casillas needs to leave to avert a potential saga of which player should start.

"An offer from Porto exists and Casillas is enthusiastic with that possibility," Casillas' agent Carlo Cutropia told Spanish sports newspaper Marca.

"Now we have to wait to see what Real Madrid say."

Casillas has two years left on his contract with Los Blancos, and Marca reports that Real would allow the 34-year-old to leave as a fee agent with the goalkeeper then signing a two-year contract with Porto.

In order for the deal to be successful, Real would have to ease Casillas' departure by helping to pay his high wages.

Casillas earns €6.5 million net per season and Marca reports that Porto are only willing to pay half of this wages.

"Real Madrid has the offer and knows what Casillas' wish is," Cutropia said to Portuguese sports newspaper Record. "At this point we are trying to find common ground."

Casillas lost his starting place at Real under former coach Jose Mourinho in the 2013-14 campaign and also struggled at the 2014 World Cup, where defending champions Spain exited at the group stages.

Real signed goalkeeper Keylor Navas to a six-year deal last summer and the Costa Rica international made a handful of starts earlier in the 2014-15 campaign, but Casillas regained his spot in the starting XI.

Real failed to win any silverware in 2014-15, finishing runners-up to Barcelona in the Primera Division and exiting the Champions League semifinals to Juventus.

Their disappointing end to the campaign led to the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti, who had guided Real to La Decima -- a record 10th European Cup -- the previous year.

Real appointed Rafa Benitez as Ancelotti's replacement earlier this month.

Casillas has been a reported target of Turkish giants Fenerbahce as well as Roma and Valencia.

Porto, coached by former Real Madrid and Spain goalkeeper Julen Lopetegui, will compete in next season's Champions League after finishing runners-up to Benfica in the 2014-15 Primeira Liga season.

A World Cup winner and two-time European champion with Spain, Casillas has clinched five Primera Division titles, three Champions League trophies and two Copa del Rey crowns since making his first-team debut with Real in 1999.
