Schalke winger Jefferson Farfan set to join UAE side Al Jazira - sources

Schalke and Peru winger Jefferson Farfan has agreed a move to United Arab Emirates to join Al Jazira, sources have told ESPN FC.

Al Jazira have agreed a fee with Schalke for the 30-year-old, with Farfan expected to sign a three-year deal subject to a medical.

Farfan, who has attracted the interest of Liverpool and Tottenham in the past, will complete the foreign quota for the new season for Al Jazira.

Farfan joined Schalke from PSV Eindhoven in 2008 and has made over 200 appearances for the club, scoring 53 goals.

The right-sided attacker saw his playing time last season restricted by injuries but impressed at the recent Copa America in Chile, playing in four of Peru's five games as they reached the semifinals.

Farfan's move will pave the way for Manuel Lanzini to complete his loan move to West Ham, as Al Jazira's four-man foreign quota for the 2015-16 campaign will leave no room for the Argentine playmaker.

Al Jazira finished second in the Arabian Gulf League last season and they hope the arrival of Farfan will boost their chances of claiming the title for the coming campaign.
