Crystal Palace are closing in on the signing of Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford on loan, sources have told ESPN FC.
Bamford was keen to fight for a first-team spot at Chelsea next season, but it appears he will go out on loan as he remains down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
Bamford enjoyed a successful spell out on loan at Middlesbrough last season, helping the club reach the Championship playoff final.
The England under-21 international scored 19 goals and won Championship Player of the Season for some stellar displays on loan at Middlesbrough.
Middlesbrough were keen on re-signing Bamford for next season, but Chelsea preferred to send the 21-year-old out on loan to a Premier League club to aid his development.
A number of clubs, including West Ham, Norwich City have shown an interest in Bamford, but Palace are in pole position to land the talented forward.
Palace boss Alan Pardew is looking to add to his attacking options and he has promised Chelsea that Bamford will play a key role in his plans for next season by playing regularly at Selhurst Park.
