Liverpool want £7 million for Luis Alberto amid Sevilla interest - source

Liverpool are seeking a fee of at least £7 million for midfielder Luis Alberto, a source close to the club has told ESPN FC.

Sevilla, Deportivo La Coruna and French side Nice are all interested in a move for Alberto but the Premier League club are expected to stand firm over their asking price, which they deem appropriate in this market, the source added.

Sevilla's sporting director confirmed the interest in the 23-year-old on Tuesday.

Monchi said: "We received an offer from Luis Alberto's agent. We're assessing it, but we haven't started talks with Liverpool. He fits in our game style and can be an interesting option for us."

Alberto joined Liverpool from Sevilla in the summer of 2013 but has endured a difficult spell on Merseyside, only making 12 appearances for the club in his time at Anfield.

He spent last season out on loan in Spain with Deportivo where he impressed by scoring six goals and providing eight assists in 31 outings.

Alberto is taking part in preseason training with Liverpool after reporting for duty on Saturday.
