Liverpool keeper Adam Bogdan set for move to Wigan - sources

Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan is poised to join Wigan Athletic, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Bogdan has been deemed surplus to requirements at Liverpool after failing to impress Jurgen Klopp.

The Hungary international joined Liverpool last summer on a free transfer from Bolton and started the season as Simon Mignolet's deputy.

Bogdan was given a chance in the team at the back end of last year following an injury to Mignolet, but high-profile errors against Watford and Exeter saw him slip down the pecking order in Klopp's plans, with Danny Ward promoted to Mignolet's understudy in the second half of last season.

Klopp signed German goalkeeper Loris Karius earlier this summer to compete with Mignolet to be first choice in the upcoming season.

Ward joined Huddersfield Town on loan earlier this month after signing a new long-term deal, but Klopp is still ready to sanction a move for Bogdan.

Should Bogdan seal his move to Wigan, Liverpool could offer former Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Manninger a move to Anfield, with the free agent currently training with tehr Reds in preseason.
