PSG keeper Salvatore Sirigu helped to join Sevilla on loan by Unai Emery

New Sevilla signing Salvatore Sirigu has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain coach Unai Emery's "love" of the Spanish club convinced him to move there on loan for the season.

Sirigu, 29, signed a season-long loan deal, without an option for the defending Europa League champions to buy, last week which ended a bad year for the Italy international at Parc des Princes in which he was frozen out.

Speaking at his official unveiling at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Sirigu admitted that Emery selling the club as a "family" helped him to make his decision.

"[Emery] told me lots of good things about the club," Sirigu said. "He spoke well of the players, the organisation, which is like a family, and of the city itself. He really loves Seville -- that much was clear when we spoke."

The former Palermo keeper fell out of favour at PSG in Laurent Blanc's final season in charge, slipping to second choice after the arrival of Kevin Trapp.

Despite his bad experiences over the past year, when it comes to competition, Sirigu claimed that it is "normal" and that it is "a good thing."

"I am at the disposal of the team," he said. "The coach will decide, so no problem there. A bit of competition for places is normal and a good thing. It allows you to move forward and to get better if we approach things well.

"This team can do a lot for me because at my age, it is important to flourish in football."

Sirigu made just three Ligue 1 appearances last season but he has Champions League experience from his five-year stint in Paris and was voted Best Goalkeeper in Le Championnat twice.
