Wolfsburg have said they would reconsider their stance and potentially allow Germany international Julian Draxler a move if he asks to leave again.
Draxler, 23, had hoped to leave Wolfsburg following Euro 2016 amid talk of interest from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain but was ordered to remain at the club by sporting executive Klaus Allofs.
Although Draxler has said that he is only concentrating on club football with Die Wolfe right now, the attacking midfielder has failed to impress this term and could now be allowed a transfer in the winter.
"We'd evaluate it differently now and maybe give our approval the next time," Allofs said on Sport1 on Sunday. "The story did not help him, and it did not help VfL."
Draxler is under contract at the Volkswagen Arena until 2020 and reportedly has a buyout clause worth a minimum of €75 million that can be triggered in the summer of 2017.
He missed Saturday's 1-0 home loss against his former club Schalke with a muscle injury. He has played in nine league matches for Wolfsburg, but has yet to score or record an assist.
Wolfsburg, the 2015 Bundesliga runners-up, have only picked up nine points from 11 games and are currently 14th in the table.
