Tottenham Hotspur aim to restrict Millwall FA Cup tickets - sources

Tottenham Hotspur hope to restrict Millwall's ticket allocation for the FA Cup quarterfinal at White Hart Lane next month, sources have told ESPN FC.

A final decision on the issue will be made after talks with the Football Association and the club's local Safety Advisory Group.

FA Cup rules allow away clubs an allocation of up to 15 percent subject to approval from the Safety Advisory Group, made up of the police, council, fire brigade and club.

More than 4,000 Wycombe Wanderers fans attended the fourth-round match at White Hart Lane last month, but Spurs hope to ensure there are fewer Millwall fans amid concerns about safety and anticipated big demand for home tickets.

A source said Tottenham had suggested a preliminary figure of 2,800 away supporters to the FA, but the final number will be down to the advisory group.

White Hart Lane's capacity has been reduced to 31,500 this season while building work continues on the north-east corner.

The game will be the last-ever FA Cup tie at the ground, leading to huge demand for home tickets.

It will be the first competitive match between Tottenham and Millwall since April 1990 in the old Division One, and the first meeting between the clubs since violent clashes marred a friendly the following year.

Tottenham are keeping an eye on developments after Leicester City complained to the FA about the "abuse, provocation and intimidation" suffered by their fans in the fifth-round defeat at Millwall's Den ground on Saturday.

Home fans ran onto the pitch at the end to goad the visiting supporters, and missiles were thrown.

All four FA Cup quarterfinals will be televised and the clubs will hold talks with the FA, police and broadcasters about an early kickoff.
