Joe Cole agrees new contract with Tampa Bay Rowdies - sources

Former Chelsea and England midfielder Joe Cole has agreed a new deal at United Soccer League side Tampa Bay Rowdies, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Cole has impressed at Rowdies since joining the club last May as a free agent, scoring nine goals in 24 appearances in the USL and he was one of 10 players nominated for the Golden Ball award.

The 35-year-old has established himself as a key member of the Rowdies side and he captained them in their opening game of the new USL season against Orlando City B last week.

The skilful midfielder signed a one-year deal with the option for another 12 months upon his arrival in the United States, but now he has agreed to extend that deal for a further year to keep him at Tampa until 2019.

Cole's new contract will take him to the age of 38 and it seems likely that the former Liverpool and West Ham man will end his career in the United States.

Cole won three Premier League titles, the FA Cup three times, the League Cup twice, the FA Community Shield twice and represented his country 56 times during his career in England.
