Leon Goretzka not leaving Schalke this summer - sporting executive Heidel

Schalke sporting executive Christian Heidel says he cannot currently see "a scenario" which would lead to the club agreeing to a summer sale of Leon Goretzka.

Goretzka, 22, is under contract at Schalke until 2018 but has yet to agree an extension, meaning this summer could be the last chance for the Bundesliga club to cash in on their player.

The Germany international has been linked with Bayern Munich in recent weeks, though the Bavarian side's CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said at the weekend that he "won't comment on rumours."

On Monday, Christian Heidel told reporters that "as things stand right now, I can't imagine a scenario in which we agree to a summer move."

Despite failing to qualify for European competition this term, Schalke have not given up hope that Goretzka will sign a new deal.

"We will do all that is economically justifiable," Heidel said. "Leon's a lad from this region, he will give it his all for Schalke."

Goretzka joined Schalke from Bochum in 2013 and has since played 118 matches for the club, scoring 15 goals.
