Liverpool out of race for Fulham teenager Ryan Sessegnon - source

Liverpool are no longer interested in signing Fulham youngster Ryan Sessegnon, a source has told ESPN FC.

The Merseysiders ended their interest in Sessegnon -- who has not yet signed a professional contract at Craven Cottage -- and began pursuing other left-back targets weeks ago, the source said.

The 17-year-old had been on Liverpool's radar after an impressive breakthrough season in the Championship, where he made 25 appearances and helped Fulham reach the playoffs.

The Liverpool Echo reported that the Reds doubted his commitment to a move to Merseyside, adding that he is now expected to join Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool are looking to recruit a left-back in the summer window, with manager Jurgen Klopp short of options in the position.

Midfielder James Milner played there last season, while Alberto Moreno -- the only recognised left-sided full-back in the first team -- is expected to leave in the summer.

Moreno has struggled to force his way into Klopp's plans, making just eight starts in all competitions last season.

In April, sources told ESPN FC that Liverpool were fielding enquiries for Moreno from AC Milan and Inter Milan, while there was also interest from La Liga.

Liverpool are looking to recoup all of or more than the £12 million they paid Sevilla for Moreno from any potential sale this summer, sources said.
