PSG ready for Neymar talks and back in for Alexis Sanchez - source

PARIS -- Paris Saint-Germain have yet to agree a deal to sign Barcelona star Neymar but have been made aware that a deal is possible and are ready to step up talks, a source close to the French side has told ESPN FC.

Esporte Interativo reported on Tuesday that Neymar has accepted an offer from PSG and will move for a world-record transfer fee of €222 million.

The source said the Brazil forward has not yet agreed a deal, but serious talks are expected to start soon. However, PSG sporting director Antero Henrique has also restarted dialogue with the representative of Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez after initially cooling their interest.

PSG know Neymar will be very difficult to land but are keen to take their chance to try for him, while a deal for Sanchez appears more and more feasible as Arsene Wenger continues to refuse to sell to Premier League rivals Manchester City.

Another source close to PSG, meanwhile, said Henrique, who leads the club's transfer talks, is no longer with the squad in the United States after being called back to Paris on urgent business.

The Ligue 1 giants have been in Miami since last weekend, and Henrique, as well as assistant Maxwell, travelled with the delegation to Florida and have been with coach Unai Emery and his men for the past few days.

PSG have now moved on to Detroit to take on Roma in their International Champions Cup opener at Comerica Park, and Henrique has already headed back to France.

PSG chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi is not in Paris because he was in Rabat, Morocco, on Tuesday to speak at a Confederation of African Football symposium, tempering rumours of an immediate summit meeting with Henrique.

The French side are working on a number of deals at the moment, with a potential €9.5m deal for Estudiantes central defender and Tottenham Hotspur target Juan Foyth among the priorities, while some peripheral squad players are also expected to be moved on.

Serge Aurier, Hatem Ben Arfa and Grzegorz Krychowiak were all left behind in Paris when the squad left for Miami, and in order for any potential deal for Neymar to be financed, Henrique will need to move at least one or two of these players.
