Man United's Timothy Fosu-Mensah set for Crystal Palace loan - sources

Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah is set to sign for Crystal Palace on loan, sources have told ESPN FC.

Fosu-Mensah, 19, has found himself down the pecking order at Old Trafford after the £31 million signing of Victor Lindelof from Benfica.

He is set to sign a season-long loan deal at Selhurst Park and could be a Palace player in time to make his debut against Huddersfield on Saturday.

Fosu-Mensah broke into United's first team under Louis van Gaal during the 2015-16 season, making 10 senior appearances.

But the teenager endured a frustrating campaign under Jose Mourinho last term, featuring in just four Premier League games. He was an unused substitute for the Europa League final against former club Ajax in May.

His first-team chances have been hit by Lindelof's arrival. The Sweden international is one of five senior centre-backs at Old Trafford along with Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo.

Fosu-Mensah, who can also play in midfield and at full-back, arrived at United from Ajax in 2014.

He is set to link up with fellow Dutchman Frank de Boer at Crystal Palace after the 47-year-old took over from Sam Allardyce this summer.

United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, meanwhile, has joined Leeds United on loan.
