Under-fire manager Alan Pardew will remain in charge at West Brom this week -- despite mounting pressure over his position. The Baggies boss is due to keep his job even after Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Watford, sources tell Press Association Sport. Albion are eight points from safety having won one Premier League game since August. Pardew's job remains on the line, though, and it is likely to be reviewed again after Saturday's visit of Leicester. He has earned extra time after an improved performance at Vicarage Road, despite defeat. The lack of viable alternatives is another consideration for the Baggies as they begin to plan for life in the Sky Bet Championship. Slaven Bilic was considered before Albion appointed Pardew but it was too soon after leaving West Ham for the Croatian. Pardew has been under growing scrutiny having won just once in 15 league games since replacing Tony Pulis in November while there have been a number of off-field issues on his watch. Jonny Evans, Jake Livermore, Gareth Barry and Boaz Myhill apologised after they broke a curfew and allegedly stole a taxi while in Barcelona with the club last month. There has also been dressing-room unrest, with Pardew confirming Chris Brunt launched an unhappy tirade at him and the team following last week's 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield. A loan gamble on Daniel Sturridge, who joined until the end of the season from Liverpool in January, has appeared to have backfired, with the striker already sidelined with a hamstring injury. Albion's problems started before Pardew joined though as they had won just four times in Pulis' final 26 games in all competitions. The club's owner Guochuan Lai, who bought the club in 2016, recognises some of the issues run deeper than the ones which surround the manager. He sacked chairman John Williams and chief executive Martin Goodman and placed them on gardening leave in February. But Saturday's loss, thanks to Troy Deeney's second-half effort, was Albion's fifth straight league defeat. Relegation looks inevitable, with the Baggies last dropping out of the Premier League in 2009, before making an instant return a year later.
