Roar coach Robbie Fowler unveils recruits

Robbie Fowler's recruitment drive has shifted into another gear after the new Brisbane Roar mentor lured Australians George Mells and Jake McGing to the A-League club.

A day after unveiling a trio of United Kingdom-based signings, Fowler has confirmed his latest coup - former Adelaide United championship-winner Mells and ex-Central Coast Mariner McGing.

Mells - a former Chelsea and Southampton Academy product - will return to Australia after a stint with Dutch Eredivisie side Fortuna Sittard.

"It's a massive club which has won many championships. I've won one myself in Adelaide so I would love to add another to that list," Mells said.

"I think once you get a taste of having success you just want more and that's something I'm going to try and bring to the club."

McGing played 83 games for Central Coast and links with Brisbane after playing with Polish top-flight outfit Wilsa Plock.

"It's a club that deserves to be at the top. I'm hoping to be someone that the fans can always rely on and bring as much success to the club as possible," McGing said.

The pair are Fowler's fifth and sixth signings.

It comes barely 24 hours after the new Roar mentor unveiled the recruitment of Welsh striker Aaron Amadi-Holloway and defender Macaulay Gillesphey from England's lower leagues and Tom Aldred from Scottish Premier League club Motherwell.

Brisbane pre-season training starts next week.
