Bebe closing in on Benfica transfer

Manchester United flop Bebe has admitted he is eager to secure a permanent transfer to Benfica, and believes a deal could be secured by the weekend.

- Payne: Arise, King Louis

Bebe, 24, has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford since Sir Alex Ferguson signed him for 7.4 million pounds in 2010, with the manager famously having never seen him play.#INSERT type:inline END#

The Portuguese forward has been shipped out on loan for the last three seasons, to Besiktas, Rio Ave and Pacos de Ferreira, and on Friday missed the cut for Louis van Gaal's 25-man squad for United's U.S. tour.

Despite his forgettable performances for the Red Devils, Bebe managed 12 goals for Pacos last term, and after admitting a move to Benfica would be a "good opportunity," the Portuguese club have seen enough to convince them he is a target worth pursuing.

"I am waiting for them to tell me when I can travel, as far as I know the clubs are talking," Bebe told Portuguese radio station Renascenca. "It would be a good opportunity to relaunch my career. I'll certainly have more chances to play and show myself.

"I hope everything will be sorted out by the weekend. I want to put my head in place and work at 100%, without any concerns."

Bebe however, did insist that he will not be loaned out for a fourth time.

"That certainly won't happen again," he added. "Benfica are a golden shop window, they have revealed several players. I hope the same happens with me."#INSERT type:inline END#
