England captain Kane suffers injury scare on eve of Euros

England captain Harry Kane is struggling with a back injury less than a month out from the European Championship, with Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel confirming he will miss the final game of the season.

Kane was forced to sit out Bayern's last Bundesliga match against Wolfsburg on May 12, and will be absent from their trip to Hoffenheim on Saturday.

Tuchel said Kane was struggling with the injury in the run-up to Bayern's Champions League semifinal against Real Madrid on May 8 but played through the pain.

"Harry is receiving treatment from his personal doctor," Tuchel said on Friday.

"He cannot travel. He was already at the limit in Madrid. He had a complete blockade in his back, it's gotten worse and bothers him in everyday movements."

Kane has had a remarkable season with Bayern, finishing his debut Bundesliga campaign with 36 goals, including four hat tricks.

He has 44 goals overall when bringing in his Champions League contributions, while he also has 12 assists across all competitions.

The news will come as a concern for England's men's team as they prepare for Euro 2024, where they will be one of the favourites to win the competition.

Kane is set to captain the team this summer and will be one of their key figures as they look to win a first men's major trophy since 1966.

England manager Gareth Southgate will name his squad for the tournament at St. George's Park on Tuesday, with Kane still expected to be included.

England's schedule sees them play two pre-tournament friendlies. The first against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 3 followed by Iceland on June 7.

England start their Euro 2024 campaign against Serbia on June 16.
