UWCL recap: Arsenal, Real Madrid, Man United all win in MD2

With its new 18-team format, the UEFA Women's Champions League gave us some fun results to conclude Matchday 2 in the competition on Thursday.

In the early game, Manchester United went to Atlético Madrid and emerged with a 1-0 victory, despite having Dominique Jansen sent off in the first half. (Atlético also had a player, Alexia Fernández, dismissed in the second half after receiving a second yellow card.)

In the trio of late game kickoffs, Arsenal enjoyed a 2-0 win at Benfica, though it was a nervy affair after the visitors took the lead via a Diana Gomes own goal. In the end, Alessia Russo's 89th minute finish, assisted by Chloe Kelly, secured all three points.

Real Madrid wrapped up an impressive 2-1 win at Paris Saint-Germain, with first-half goals from Naomie Feller and Alba Redondo proving enough to fend off the hosts' fightback after the break. Bayern Munich left it late -- like the 95th minute -- to defeat Juventus 2-1, with Lea Schüller the injury time hero for the German giants.
