Liga MX side Tigres UANL have confirmed Miguel Hererra will take over as manager, the club announced on Thursday.
Herrera will take over for Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti, who stepped down from the role after the end of the 2021 Clausura season.

Herrera was most recently the coach at Club America, where he was dismissed in December 2020. After taking over Las Aguilas in 2017, Herrera won the Apertura 2018 league tournament, following up with the 2019 Clausura Copa MX title and the Campeon de Campones crown. In his first stint with the Mexico City-based team, he lead it to Clausura 2013 title.
After leading Mexico at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, his tenure was cut short in 2015 after video emerged of Herrera punching a reporter at the Philadelphia airport just hours after guiding El Tri to a Gold Cup title over Jamaica. He then returned to Liga MX with Tijuana, a position he held for nearly two years before returning to Club America.
Under Ferretti, Tigres had won five Liga MX titles and a CONCACAF Champions League crown since 2011.
Despite a 10th place finish and a first round exit from the Clausura playoffs, Tigres are expected to compete for more silverware next season. They signed World Cup winner Florian Thauvin to a five-year contract earlier this month, who'll now play alongside fellow French star and ex-Marseille teammate Andre-Pierre Gignac at Los Felinos.
