Tottenham's Victor Wanyama wins Premier League Goal of the Month

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama has won the Premier League's Goal of the Month award for February.

Wanyama's stunning long-range strike in the 2-2 draw at Liverpool on Feb. 4 beat seven other nominees for the prize, including Mohamed Salah's skilful individual effort from the same match.

The 26-year-old beat Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius to score his first goal of the season just one minute after coming off the bench at Anfield.

"That was one of my best goals I've ever scored," Wanyama said. "I just reacted before the Liverpool players.

"I thought I'd just let it go because the ball was bouncing and I didn't want to think too much. And I just let it fly."

Wanyama becomes the first Tottenham player to win the award since the Premier League introduced its own prize at the start of last season.

He is the second African player to win it this term, after Morocco's Sofiane Boufal won for his solo goal for Southampton in October's win over West Bromwich Albion.
