Brek Shea sidelined 6-12 weeks for Vancouver Whitecaps

Vancouver Whitecaps attacker Brek Shea will miss the next 6-12 weeks after injuring his knee, coach Carl Robinson says.

Shea scored in the third minute of the Whitecaps' CONCACAF Champions League defeat to Tigres, but left the game after picking up the injury seven minutes later.

Robinson said Shea, who joined the team from Orlando City in February, would have more tests on Friday but that the injury "doesn't look good."

"If I had to hazard a guess, it will probably be six, eight, 10, 12 weeks," Robinson said. "It's not great for us, because obviously we're a little bit light in the striker department with Erik [Hurtado] going down as well. But it is what it is."

Hurtado suffered a left foot injury last weekend against the LA Galaxy.

The setbacks could give an opportunity for striker Kyle Greig to make his MLS debut alongside Fredy Montero at Real Salt Lake on Saturday.
