West Brom lose to non-league Torquay United as Napoli beat Nice

West Brom suffered a 2-1 defeat to non-league side Torquay United in a preseason friendly on Monday night.

Ben Foster was beaten from distance as Callum Hall put the fifth-tier side ahead soon after half-time, before the hosts doubled their lead through Brett Williams' shot.

West Brom's Matt Phillips brought down a pass from Darren Fletcher to score with 10 minutes to play, but they could not find an equaliser in an embarrassing result at Plainmoor.

Also on Monday, Napoli did all their damage in the first half in a 3-0 win at home over Ligue 1's Nice.

Kalidou Koulibaly scored either side of a Dries Mertens goal to give the hosts a comfortable lead.

The big news at the the Stadio San Paolo, however, came before the match, when the club surprised the crowd by introducing new striker Arkadiusz Milik.

In Monday's late game, Roma managed a 2-1 win over Liverpool in Missouri.

Edin Dzeko opened the scoring in the 29th minute, rifling in a low strike on the turn that Reds keeper Alex Manninger could have done better with.

Sheyi Ojo then brought Jurgen Klopp's side level on the stroke of half-time, before Mohamed Salah's 62nd-minute effort, which proved to be the difference between the two sides.
