Winston Reid 'couldn't speak' after Sergio Aguero clash - Mark Noble

MANCHESTER, England -- West Ham captain Mark Noble says Winston Reid couldn't speak after an alleged elbow from Sergio Aguero in Manchester City's 3-1 win over West Ham on Sunday.

The Argentine appeared to clash with the West Ham defender midway though the second half with Reid receiving treatment before being substituted.

Referee Andre Marriner missed the incident and Aguero could potentially face a three-match suspension if he is given a retrospective punishment. That would see him miss the Manchester derby at Old Trafford in City's next game.

The duo challenged for a long clearance from Hammers keeper Adrian in the 76th minute and Aguero appeared to swing his elbow towards Reid.

Noble told reporters: "I didn't see it. I don't know what it was about really but I know he can't really talk, he said he got something to the throat."

Reid was replaced by Jonathan Calleri and left the pitch holding his neck. However, West Ham boss Slaven Bilic said he was preparing to take off the New Zealand international anyway.

"No. I didn't see it at all," Bilic told a news conference. "We were preparing to make a substitution so I didn't see that and I didn't react.

"I reacted because we wanted to make a sub. Winston was off and Calleri still didn't come on. That was my discussion with them.

"I think he is okay. He is not injured.

"We wanted to change the shape, to take even more risks because when we scored a goal, we wanted to put another striker in, to put Calleri in and put Ashley Fletcher on the wing and put three in midfield and take one of the centre-backs off and go to four at the back."

City boss Pep Guardiola also missed the incident but is hoping that Aguero won't miss the game against United because of it.

"I didn't see it so I cannot comment," he told a news conference.

"I am new here so I don't know how it works. I didn't see so I cannot comment.

"Hopefully nothing happens. If it happens, we accept and adapt. If we lose him, we lose him. We are going to play with 11."
