Tony Romo withdraws from AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am

Tony Romo withdrew from the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on Saturday so he could return to Dallas to attend the funeral services of former Cowboys quarterback coach Wade Wilson, CBS Sports confirmed.

Romo, who was paired with Jim Furyk during the first two rounds and whose shot from the deck of a hospitality tent went viral Friday, cited a "commitment at home" for the reason to pull out of the tournament.

Wilson, who served as Cowboys quarterbacks coach from 2007 to 2017, helped develop Romo into the franchise's all-time leader in touchdown passes. He died Feb. 1.

Romo, a scratch golfer who is also an announcer for CBS, paired with Furyk to shoot 70 at Spyglass Hill and 65 at Pebble Beach over the first two rounds, well behind the leaders in a tie for 53rd place at 9-under as play began Saturday. Trent Newby took Romo's place alongside Furyk on Saturday; the top 60 teams advance to Sunday's final round.

On Friday, Romo made birdie after hitting a shot from the carpeted deck of a hospitality tent to within 2 feet on the par-4 15th hole at Pebble Beach.
