One-shot lead for Campillo heading into Qatar Masters final round

EUR

After sharing the lead overnight, Jorge Campillo has a narrow one-shot lead going into the final day of the Qatar Masters.

Campillo carded a third round 67 which just sets him apart from closest competitors Jeff Winther and David Drysdale who both shot a 13-under par round.

He picked up five shots in six holes to move three ahead early on but two bogeys prevented him from growing a greater advantage.

"It was tough, especially the last four holes into the wind, so it wasn't playing easy at all," Campillo told reporters after the round. "The front nine wasn't windy, it was playing easy, and the back nine was tough. I missed a few short putts but overall a good last three holes.

"I am in a good position for tomorrow but still 18 holes to go. It is going to be a tough day tomorrow but I am glad with the position I am in right now because I wasn't playing good, so being leader after three days after the last few weeks is nice."

This is Drysdale's 498th European Tour event and the golfer from Scotland is still hoping to secure his maiden victory after a bogey-free round leaves him still in the hunt.

Winther started strong, birdieing his first three holes but a bogey on the seventh dampened his hopes.

Denmark's Benjamin Poke makes up the latter end of the leading pack after shooting 12-under par.
