Frey, free throws carry Montana St past Sac St 84-70

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Harald Frey scored 21 points and Montana State went 33 of 42 from the foul line to pull away for an 84-70 win over Sacramento State on Saturday.

After making 13 of 15 free throws in the first half, the Bobcats (6-8, 3-1) got into the bonus early in the second half. After eight ties and 11 lead changes, Montana State scored six points in an 8-0 run to take the lead for good just past the midway point of the second half.

Bryce Fowler cut the Bobcats' lead to one with the next Hornet basket, and later down to 2, 69-67, with a 3-pointer with 4:18 to play. MSU then scored nine straight, seven from the line, to lead by 11 with 1:39 to go. Marcus Graves had a 3-point play for Sacramento State but Keljin Blevins had a layup and dunk to close it out.

Graves had 18 points to become the 16th play to reach 1,000 career points for the Hornets (6-6, 0-3), who were 8 of 11 from the line. Three players fouled out and two others had four fouls.
