Doss lifts Ark.-Pine Bluff over Alabama St. 75-69

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Shaun Doss had a season-high 25 points as Arkansas-Pine Bluff broke its 10-game road losing streak, defeating Alabama State 75-69 on Saturday.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff did not trail in the second half, but led by just two points, 70-68, with 1:03 remaining. The Golden Lions outscored the Hornets 5-1 in the final minute.

Martaveous McKnight had 15 points and six rebounds for Arkansas-Pine Bluff (8-15, 5-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Terrance Banyard added 10 points and three blocks.

Tobi Ewuosho had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Hornets (8-13, 6-4). Reginald Gee added 12 points. Fausto Pichardo had 11 points.

Jacoby Ross, whose 14 points per game coming into the matchup ranked second on the Hornets, shot only 17 percent for the game (2 of 12).

The Golden Lions improved to 2-0 against the Hornets this season. Arkansas-Pine Bluff defeated Alabama State 82-71 on Jan. 12.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff plays Alabama A&M on the road on Monday. Alabama State plays Mississippi Valley State at home on Monday.
