Utah beats Grand Canyon 75-66 at Wooden Legacy

FULLERTON, Calif. -- Sedrick Barefield had 26 points, including four 3-pointers, and Donnie Tillman scored 14 to help Utah to a 75-66 victory over Grand Canyon on Friday night in the consolation bracket of the Wooden Legacy.

Barefield hit three 3s and scored 18 of his 26 points in the second half.

GCU (3-3), which trailed by as many as 16 in the first half, used a 10-2 spurt to trim its deficit to 35-29 at the break and pulled within one when Matt Jackson hit a jumper midway through the second. Barefield answered with back-to-back 3s and his 4-point play with 1:55 remaining gave the Utes a 67-55 lead.

Alessandro Lever scored 16 points and Tim Finke added 14 for Grand Canyon, which fell to 0-3 all-time against Utah and to 0-5 all-time against Pac-12 opponents.

Utah shot 50 percent from the field, made 19 of 22 from the free-throw line and outrebounded the Antelopes 31-24.

The Utes will face Northwestern on Sunday for fifth place, while Grand Canyon will meet La Salle in the seventh-place game.
