John Brannen to take over Norse

John Brannen has accepted the head-coaching job at Northern Kentucky, sources told ESPN.

Brannen had been an assistant coach at Alabama for the past six seasons under Anthony Grant. After Grant was fired in March, Brannen took over as the interim head coach for the Crimson Tide's NIT appearance as they reached the second round.

The Kentucky native was also an assistant coach under Grant at VCU for three seasons. Prior to his time with Grant, Brannen made stops at St. Bonaventure, Eastern Kentucky and Charleston.
