Rodney Billups, the younger brother of former NBA star Chauncey Billups, is expected to become the coach of theĀ Denver Pioneers, sources told ESPN on Friday. An official announcement is expected early next week. Denver fired coach Joe Scott earlier Friday. Billups has been on Tad Boyle's staff for the past six seasons at the University of Colorado. Billups grew up in the area and played from 2002 to 2005 at the University of Denver. Scott, 50, entered the season with a 130-117 overall mark with the Pioneers. Denver was 16-15 overall and 7-9 in Summit League play this past season. Scott's lone postseason appearance with the program came in 2007, when the Pioneers made the NIT. Before going to Denver, Scott was the coach at Princeton for three seasons (2004-07). He was also the coach at Air Force from 2000 to 2004.
