LIU Brooklyn hires Derek Kellogg as head coach

Former UMass coach Derek Kellogg has been named the next head coach at LIU Brooklyn, the school announced Tuesday.

Kellogg parted ways with UMass at the end of this past season after nine seasons in Amherst. He amassed a 155-137 record at his alma mater in that time.

Prior to his time with the Minutemen, Kellogg served as an assistant coach at Memphis, Youngstown State and George Mason.

Kellogg, a former assistant and player for John Calipari, replaces Jack Perri, who was fired at the end of the 2017 season.

Under Perri, the Blackbirds went 20-12 (13-5 Northeast Conference) to finish second in the NEC this past season.
