Minnesota hires Kyle Lindsted as assistant coach

Minnesota Golden Gophers, Wichita St Shockers

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota has hired Kyle Lindsted as an assistant coach, after he spent the past three seasons in the same role at Wichita State.

Gophers coach Richard Pitino announced the move Friday, rounding out his staff. Pitino hired Rob Jeter last month, after losing two assistants to other programs. Kimani Young went to Connecticut, and Ben Johnson departed for Xavier.

While Lindsted was on staff under coach Gregg Marshall, the Shockers went 82-22 and made the NCAA tournament all three times. Before that, Lindsted was a high school coach and athletic director at Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita for 15 years. The program produced 35 players who were Division I recruits, including Bakary Konate and Dupree McBrayer of the Gophers.
