Indiana State has withdrawn from next week's Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Florida, because of multiple positive COVID-19 tests within the program.
The Sycamores were scheduled to play three games in the tournament beginning Wednesday against East Carolina. School officials did not identify whether the positive tests involved players, coaches or other staff members.
The decision means Indiana State won't open its season until Dec. 6, when the University of Indianapolis visits the newly renovated Hulman Center.
Indiana State athletic director Sherard Clinkscales said in a statement the department did not want to risk the health of anybody the team might have come in contact with in Florida.
