FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) _ David Hulse hit a two-run single in a three-run 10th inning and Frank Catalonnato went 5-for-6 with a home run and three RBIs, leading the Texas Rangers over the Minnesota Twins 8-6 Wednesday.

Mike Lamb went 4-for-6 with two RBIs as Texas got 20 hits.

Minnesota starter LaTroy Hawkins allowed four hits in three shutout innings in his second strong outing of the spring.

``I've only thrown five innings in two games, but I feel good,'' Hawkins said. ``I threw a lot of pitches in the first inning and served up a lot of foul balls, but I think I'm leading the league in foul balls. I'm just trying to go out there, relax and throw strikes.''

Texas starter Kenny Rogers gave up two runs, two hits and two walks in 3 2-3 innings and struck out four. Matt Kinney followed and allowed three runs, three hits and two walks in the fourth inning, giving up Catalonnato's solo homer.

The game was tied at 4 going into the ninth, and both teams scored, forcing extra innings. Ricky Greene gave up three runs and five hits in the 10th.

Brian Buchanan went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Brian Richardson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Twins.

Notes: Twins INF Denny Hocking agreed Tuesday to a two-year contract extension through 2002.
