BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) _ Rookie left-hander Jimmy Anderson kept his spring record perfect, getting the win Monday as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Atlanta Braves 5-1.

Anderson allowed one run on three hits in four innings, walking one and striking out two. Anderson, battling Pete Schourek for the fifth spot in the Pirates' rotation, is 3-0 with a 1.00 ERA after three games.

``I've done exactly what I wanted to so far this spring,'' Anderson said. ``I've thrown strikes and got people out. There's still a long way to go in spring training, though. We'll see what happens.''

Jason Kendall and Brian Giles had two hits each for the Pirates, while Ivan Cruz had two RBIs. Pascual Matos had two of the Braves' five hits.

Kevin Millwood, an 18-game winner last season, allowed one run and three hits in three innings, walked three and struck out two.

Pittsburgh scored two runs off loser Steve Avery in the fourth inning to go ahead for good. Pinch-hitter Darryl Brinkley had a run-scoring double and scored on Kendall's single.
