FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) _ Baltimore Orioles first baseman Calvin Pickering drove in five runs on just one hit, that being a three-run homer, as the Orioles beat the Minnesota Twins 9-7 on Tuesday.

Pickering's blast came off of Twins starter Brad Radke in the top of the third inning and staked Baltimore to a 4-0 lead. His other two RBI came on a sacrifice fly in the fifth and a fielder's choice ground ball with the bases loaded in the seventh.

``I struck him out on the change-up in the first, so I think he was waiting for it the second time and got it,'' Radke said.

Catcher Matt LeCroy went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and first baseman Mario Valdez went two-for-four with two RBI for the Twins.

Second baseman Jerry Hairston went 3-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and also played well defensively for the Orioles.

Cal Ripken Jr. went 0-for-3 before coming out of the game in the sixth inning.

Baltimore starting pitcher Mike Mussina held the Twins to two hits over four innings and struck out three. But right-hander Al Reyes, who came into the game in the seventh, picked up the win.

``Mussina looked like he was on top of his game, and Radke wasn't too far behind,'' Twins manager Tom Kelly said. ``It was fun watching those two guys pitch.''

Twins right-hander Jack Cressand took the loss after giving up four runs on four hits and a walk in the seventh inning.
