JUPITER, Fla. (AP) _ Carl Pavano and four relievers combined on a four-hitter as the Montreal Expos beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-0 on Wednesday to improve to their Grapefruit League-best record to 13-6.

Vladimir Guerrero drove in both Montreal runs with a long homer to left in the second and a run-scoring double in the third.

Pavano surrendered three hits and two walks in five innings, striking out three. He was followed by Felipe Lira, Shayne Bennett, J.D. Smart and Ugueth Urbina, who pitched one inning each.

Urbina, the Expos closer, pitched on consecutive days for the first time this spring and walked two batters before getting out of the ninth.

``We all pitched well but we still have a lot of work to do,'' Pavano said. ``I'm still using my breaking ball sparingly but my changeup and slider were good and I spotted my fastball well today.''

It was the first time in three starts this spring that Pavano has not allowed a run. He was helped by Lenny Webster, who caught two runners trying to steal second.

The Dodgers, who slipped to 5-16 in the spring, limited Montreal to five hits. Starter Carlos Perez gave up both runs.

``The last two outings have been so much better than the first two,'' Dodgers manager Davey Johnson said. ``That's what we're all looking for from him, getting better each time. He did well against a good-hitting club over there.''

Orel Hershiser, who is back with the Dodgers, where he spent the first 11 years of his career, followed Perez and worked two perfect innings, striking out two.

Notes: The Expos completed the trade with the New York Yankees for pitcher Hideki Irabu by sending Christian Parker to the Yankees. Parker went 8-6 record in 1999 at Triple-A Ottawa and Double A Harrisburg. The Yankees had already acquired Jake Westbrook and Ted Lilly. ... The Expos also moved two other pitchers, optioning Guillermo Mota to Triple-A Ottawa and reassigning Matt Skrmetta to the minor league camp.
