SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) _ Adam Kennedy made a good impression in his first appearance with Anaheim, homering in his first at bat and adding a two-run triple as the Angels defeated the San Francisco Giants 10-0 on Saturday.

Kennedy, acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals along with pitcher Kent Bottenfield for outfielder Jim Edmonds on Thursday, drove in four runs.

"We got hit by the Adam ball today," Giants manager Dusty Baker said.

Troy Glaus and Darin Erstad also homered for Anaheim.

Kent Mercker and three other pitchers shut out the Giants on five hits. Mercker allowed two hits in five innings. He walked one and struck out two.

Giants starter Russ Ortiz gave up six runs on eight hits in 5 2-3 innings. He walked five and struck out six.

After Erstad walked to open the game, Kennedy hit a towering home run over the right-field fence.

Kennedy's two-run triple in the sixth ended Ortiz's day.

Glaus hit a three-run homer off Chad Zerbe in the seventh. Erstad homered in the fifth and added a sacrifice fly in the sixth. Gary DiSarcina also drove in a run for the Angels. Mo Vaughn and Garret Anderson each had two hits.

Rich Aurilia, who doubled and reached third on an error, was the only Giants' runner to advance past second base.
