KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) _ Octavio Dotel was pounded for 10 runs in three innings Tuesday as the Houston Astros lost to the Kansas City Royals 18-9 in their final spring game in Florida.

Dotel allowed 10 hits and his spring ERA soared from 3.24 to 7.32. Dotel, scheduled to be the Astros' No. 4 starter this season, allowed eight runs in the first inning and two more in the third.

Reliever Trever Miller, who followed Dotel to the mound, didn't give up as many runs, but perhaps it was because he wasn't around long enough to do it. The Royals got to Miller for seven runs on six hits in one inning of work.

First baseman Mark Sweeney led the Royals with five RBIs, center fielder Carlos Beltran had four and second baseman Carlos Febles drove in three runs. Febles, Jermaine Dye, Brad Johnson and Rey Sanchez had three hits apiece for the Royals in a 23-hit attack.

Royals starter Dan Murray allowed three runs on five hits in four innings for the win.

The Astros will leave Florida on Wednesday, one day earlier than originally planned, to tour new Enron Field before Thursday's inaugural game against the two-time defending champion New York Yankees.

Houston closed out the Florida portion of its exhibition schedule with a 17-10 record. The Royals improved to 15-15.
