TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) _ Anaheim right-hander Jason Dickson made his second consecutive strong outing in his comeback from shoulder surgery that sidelined him last season as the Angels beat the Oakland Athletics 3-2 on Tuesday.

Dickson allowed six hits and one run in six innings as he picked up his second spring win. Dickson appears on track after a rocky start this spring. He allowed 18 hits and nine earned runs in 7 2-3 innings over his first three appearances.

His fortunes began to turn around during a March 22 start against San Diego when he allowed five hits over 5 2-3 innings. He allowed one run while earning his first win of the spring.

``They say timing is everything,'' Dickson said. ``The last couple of starts is a good time to do well.''

Oakland's only run off Dickson came in the first when leadoff man Rich Becker drew a walk and scored on Jorge Velandia's double.

Dickson walked four and struck out three, but managed to get the Athletics to hit into three double plays.

``I didn't think he was quite as sharp as (the San Diego start),'' Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. ``But, the results were good. You hold a team to one run over six innings and you're doing your job.''

Anaheim took the lead in the second when Tim Salmon and Garret Anderson led off the inning with back-to-back doubles off Oakland starter Gil Heredia. Anderson scored on a groundout.

Angels' reliever Troy Percival got out of a ninth-inning jam when right fielder Larry Barnes made a game-ending, over-the-shoulder catch on a deep liner by Dionys Cesar with the tying run at third.

Percival allowed two hits in the ninth and picked up his first spring save.
