CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) _ Miguel Cairo, Mike Defelice and Fred McGriff each homered off Randy Wolf as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays beat the Philadelphia Phillies 8-5 on Tuesday.

Wolf gave up four runs in the first inning, finishing with seven runs and nine hits allowed in five innings.

``In the first inning, he didn't miss too many bats,'' Phillies manager Terry Francona said. ``He didn't have a lot of pop today. He needs to pitch inside effectively, but he got the ball out over the plate.''

McGriff had three hits, while Defelice was 2-for-4 and drove in four runs.

Tampa Bay manager Larry Rothschild was ejected by home plate umpire Greg Gibson in the seventh inning for arguing a call by first base umpire Andy Fletcher that ruled a possible Dave Martinez home run foul.

Martinez hit a ball down the right field line that appeared to bounce off a telephone pole just beyond the foul pole. Martinez wandered between first base and second base for several minutes while Rothschild and first base coach Jose Cardenal conferred with the umpires before he was sent back to home plate.

John Burkett pitched four innings, giving up six hits and two runs, to earn his first win of the spring for Tampa Bay.

Meanwhile, the Phillies acquired Mickey Morandini from the Montreal Expos in exchange for cash earlier in the day. Morandini was expected to arrive in Clearwater on Tuesday night and should be in the starting lineup Wednesday when the Phillies play the New York Yankees.
