PHOENIX (AP) -- A shaky bullpen has been costly for the Pittsburgh Pirates this season, and the Diamondbacks knew it. Steve Finley capped a four-run, seventh-inning rally with a two-run double as Arizona beat the Pirates 6-5, extending their losing streak to four. "We knew we just had to stay close and get into their bullpen,' said Luis Gonzalez, who had a key RBI single in the Diamondbacks' rally after they chased starter Jason Schmidt. "He had a fastball going in the low-to-mid 90s and a good changeup. He kept us off balance most of the game until he got tired, and that's when we broke through." Arizona, which has won a club-record eight straight home games, trailed 3-2 in the seventh against Schmidt (1-4), who struck out seven. Pinch-hitter Lenny Harris doubled and scored on a single by Tony Womack, who extended his hitting streak to 19 games, which matched the longest in the major leagues this season. Gonzalez singled off Jeff Wallace for a 4-3 lead and, after Jay Bell walked, Finley hit a two-run double off Jose Silva for a 6-3 lead. "It was a lefty-lefty situation. I got ahead in the count and I got a good pitch to hit and was able to hit it in the gap," Gonzalez said. "You have to give a lot of credit to Lenny Harris for getting the double to get things started and Jay's great at-bat to come back from 0-2 and get the walk." Todd Stottlemyre (8-2) allowed three runs and six hits in seven innings. "Todd just competed and kept us in," said Diamondbacks manager Buck Showalter. "A lot of guys get down 3-0 and it leads to a bigger inning. But Todd kept firing and we got back into it." Stottlemyre threw 101 pitches, his highest count so far this year. "My personal goal is to go the full nine innings in 100 pitches, but this is a tough league to do that so anytime I can go the full seven is nice," Stottlemyre said. "They want to keep me around 100 pitches to protect my shoulder.' Brian Giles hit a two-run homer in the eighth off Mike Morgan. Byung-Hyun Kim got five outs for his fourth save. The game ended when pinch-runner Mike Benjamin was thrown out trying to steal second base. Matt Williams, in his second game back after breaking his right foot in spring training, was 1-for-4 after going 2-for-4 Tuesday night. John Vander Wal's three-run, opposite-field homer in the second inning gave Pittsburgh a 3-0 lead. Arizona closed to 3-2 in the bottom half on Travis Lee's RBI single and a bases-loaded walk to Kelly Stinnett. Schmidt then threw a called third strike past Womack and retired Bell on a inning-ending grounder. "Jason shut then down for awhile. I was hoping we could get some more runs for him, but that didn't happen," Pittsburgh manager Gene Lamont said. "This is the fifth time Jason has pitched since he came off the DL and it was by far the best. He had outstanding stuff. I hope he can build on this. That's one positive from tonight." Game notesWil Cordero was 0-for-3, stopping his career-best hitting streak at 15 games. ... The Pirates have at least one extra-base hit in each game this season. Vander Wal extended that streak to 44 with his homer. ... Lee left the game with strained right groin in the eighth inning and will be evaluated Thursday. ... Diamondbacks RHP Armando Reynoso, bothered by a left hamstring pull plus a 2-4 record and 6.64 ERA, threw in the bullpen before the game with no apparent problem and saved his spot in the rotation.
