CINCINNATI (AP) -- Dante Bichette was glad to turn the tables on
Pittsburgh, which had hoped to capitalize on his reputation for
hitting into double plays.
Bichette's bases-loaded triple helped the Cincinnati Reds break
a four-game losing streak by beating the Pirates 7-1 Saturday.

"I guess the only thing you can say is that proves you can go
from goat to hero to goat again with one swing of the bat," said
Bichette, who had misplayed a ball and allowed a run to score
Friday night.
Bichette has hit into 15 double plays this season and is tied
for fourth in the NL. Pirates manager Gene Lamont had Ken Griffey Jr. intentionally walked in the eighth after an error, walk and
sacrifice bunt put runners on second and third.
"I was hoping to get a double-play ball from Bichette," Lamont
said.
Instead, Bichette hit a fly ball to right-center that center
fielder Adrian Brown broke in on.
"He hit it off the end of the bat, but then it carried over my
head," said Brown, who stumbled as he retreated toward the wall.
"I just got my feet crossed up breaking back."
Bichette went to third and then scored on Benito Santiago's
sacrifice fly.
"The key is getting some breaks. We haven't gotten many this
year," Reds manager Jack McKeon said. "Dante did his job. Even if
the guy catches the ball, it's still a sacrifice fly and we get the
extra run. It's important to build your cushion in the late
innings."
Steve Parris (7-14), who is tied for the league lead in losses,
allowed eight hits, struck out three and walked two in 6 1/3
innings. Scott Sullivan got the final three outs.
"Maybe the breaks are going my way now, not like earlier in the
year," Parris said. "I actually think my stuff was better earlier
in the year. But fortunately the balls are being caught now, and
we're getting some hits."
"He's pitched well lately," McKeon said. "He's done a good
job and he's deserved a better fate in a couple of the games."
Lamont agreed about the tough luck Parris, a former Pirate, has
experienced.
"His record is very deceiving," Lamont said. "He has good
control of his fastball, and he just keeps coming at you."
Jimmy Anderson (4-6) allowed six hits, struck out three and
walked three in seven-plus innings for his first loss since June
14.
"After they got those two quick runs, I just tried to keep us
in the game the best I could," Anderson said. "Toward the end, I
just couldn't throw strikes."
The Reds scored twice in the first on an RBI single by Griffey
and Sean Casey's ground out, and got another run in the third on a
single by Casey.
Anderson then put Cincinnati down in order until the eighth.
The Pirates' run came in the seventh when Pat Meares led off
with a double, went to third on Anderson's bunt single and scored
on a single by Jason Kendall.
Game notes
Pokey Reese was held out of the Reds lineup for the second
consecutive game because of tightness in his left hamstring. ...
Barry Larkin didn't play after experiencing soreness in his left
knee in Friday night's game. He remains one hit shy of 2,000. ...
Pittsburgh third baseman Aramis Ramirez left the game with a
bruised left hand after being hit by a pitch in the second inning.
It was the second time this week Ramirez was hit on the hand, and
he was taken to a Cincinnati hospital for a bone scan. ...
Saturday's paid attendance of 34,370 brought the Reds' season total
to 2,030,505 in 61 home dates, the fastest the Reds have reached
the 2 million milestone.
