The ESPN.com staff hit the streets of New York to answer this week's question: "What is your take on Major League Baseball's $50,000 fine of Roger Clemens?" And well, it shouldn't come as a shock that these New Yorkers had their opinions on the subject.

Job: Student
Residence: New York, NY
Comment: "I think that the Clemens fine is absolutely right on because he let his emotions take over. There was no reason to throw it (the bat) right back at Piazza. He said to the umpire immediately that is was his fault, so I think the fine was appropriate."

Mets Fan |
Name: John Job: Construction Supervisor Residence: Lancaster, Pa.
Comment: "I think it was just a slap on the wrist. I don't think that it (the fine) was appropriate for the act that was committed. I think that at least a game suspension would be reasonable."

Name: Elliot/Beverly Job: CPA/Legal Secretary Residence: Ocean Side, Long Island
Comment: Beverly: "It was less then a day's pay. It is totally insufficient. The fine amount doesn't mean anything when you make $13 million dollars a year."
Elliot: "You have got to be a gentlemen out there. He is too good of a pitcher to do things like that. He is good. He is a very proficient pitcher."

Names: Ivan Jobs: Retail worker Residence: New York, NY
Comment: "I think that he should have been fined big time. Why did he have to throw the bat at him? I think that he should have been suspended for a game. Especially when the act was in the World Series. If Piazza had charged the mound then that would have been different."

Comment: "The fine was stupid. He (Clemens) was running on adrenaline. He just threw the bat innocently and Piazza is making a big deal about it."

Comment: "He shouldn't have been fined. I think they are making a big deal about nothing. I think they should leave it alone. Walk away and just play baseball."
