Orioles places reliever Chaz Roe (shoulder) on 15-day DL

SEATTLE -- Right-hander Chaz Roe has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Baltimore Orioles with right shoulder tendinitis.

Roe flew back to Baltimore to be examined on Monday and manager Buck Showalter was hopeful of Roe rejoining the team in Seattle on Tuesday. Instead, Roe was placed on the disabled list after being looked at by Baltimore's team doctors.

Baltimore made the move minutes before opening a three-game series in Seattle. Right-hander Mychal Givens was recalled from Double-A Bowie to take Roe's roster spot.

Roe was 2-2 with a 3.12 ERA in 28 appearances out of the bullpen. Roe pitched 1/3 of an inning and took the loss in Sunday's 5-4, 11-inning defeat to the Los Angeles Angels giving up one run and one hit.
