Cleveland Indians pitcher Danny Salazar will not make his scheduled start Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners because of shoulder fatigue.
The Indians announced Monday that Salazar, who has the best ERA in the American League, is still on track to make his next scheduled turn in the rotation Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels.
Cody Anderson will replace Salazar as Tuesday's starting pitcher for the Indians, who are in first place in the AL Central thanks to a six-game winning streak.
Salazar, 26, emerged as one of the best young pitchers in the majors last year and has been Cleveland's most consistent starter this season, going 6-3 with a 2.24 ERA.
The hard-throwing right-hander is fourth in the AL with 81 strikeouts over just 68 1/3 innings and is coming off a dominant performance against the reigning World Series champion Kansas City Royals last Friday, when he had nine strikeouts over eight innings.
Anderson, 25, is 1-3 with a 6.81 ERA in eight games -- seven starts -- with Cleveland this season.
