The Chicago White Sox announced Thursday that they declined right-hander Matt Albers' $3 million club option for 2017. Instead, the team exercised the $250,000 buyout on Albers' contract, making him a free agent.
Albers posted a 6.31 ERA in 58 appearances for Chicago this season, with one start. He was 2-6 with 13 holds and four blown saves. He struck out 30 batters in 51 1/3 innings.
The White Sox also announced three more roster moves:
Outfielder J.B. Shuck was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte.
Third baseman Matt Davidson and right-hander Jake Petricka were reinstated from the 60-day disabled list.
Right-hander Daniel Webb was released.
