Braves avoid arbitration with Arodys Vizcaino, Ian Krol

MLB, Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves have agreed to one-year deals with relief pitchers Arodys Vizcaino and Ian Krol, avoiding arbitration. Figures were not announced by the club.

Dominant in the first half of the season, Vizcaino, 26, pitched just 2 2/3 innings following the All-Star break. The right-hander was on the 15-day disabled list from July 16 to Aug.18 with a strained right oblique. He was out again from Aug. 28 until the end of the season due to right shoulder inflammation.

Vizcaino finished the 2016 season with a 4.42 ERA, striking out 50 batters across 38 2/3 innings and recording 10 saves.

Krol, 25, posted a career-low 3.18 ERA in a career-high 63 games last season. The left-hander struck out 51 batters over 56 innings.

Vizcaino is scheduled to become a free agent in 2020. He made $897,500 in 2016.

Krol earned $515,000 last season and is due to reach free agency in 2021 at the earliest.
