Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Randal Grichuk was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right knee sprain, the result of an awkward, diving catch in Sunday's win against Texas.
The team said he suffered a Grade 1 strain of the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
To fill Grichuk's spot on the roster, the Blue Jays recalled infielder Gift Ngoepe from Triple-A Buffalo.
A career .242 hitter, the 26-year-old Grichuk is batting just .106 this season with two homers and seven RBIs in 25 games.
